Internship: Content and Media Intern

Title: Content internship at Back on My Feet

Back on My Feet, the nonprofit that promotes the self-sufficiency of homeless populations by engaging them in running as a means to build confidence, strength and self-esteem, is seeking a Content Intern for the summer in its Philadelphia offices at 15th and Locust streets.

Sorry, the intern will be unpaid but college credit can certainly be arranged. We would be expecting 15-20 hours of work in the office a week.

The intern will be working directly with the Director of Media and Social Marketing in four broad capacities to help bring attention to and build audience around Back on My Feet and its mission of combating homelessness.

  1. Content -- Helping in the process of developing the nonprofit's new blog -- blog.backonmyfeet.org -- and supplying content around members, their stories and the organization's mission.
  2. Social media -- Cultivating real relationships and community, mostly via Twitter, Facebook and YouTube
  3. Traditional media -- Helping pitch legacy media on stories related the organization and its mission
  4. Website -- Learning the organization's content management system to help with monthly updates

Requirements:

  1. Be on time, work hard and be creative
  2. Have an interest social advocacy and homelessness issues
  3. Strong writing skills
  4. Knowledge and interest in community building with social media
  5. Multimedia skills -- content creation with video, audio and blogs
  6. Some Web background or interest to develop one
